Feet By Pody has been looking after the feet of London since 2006. Now it’s even easier to see one of our trained podiatrists with our new Holborn Chiropody Clinic providing general and specialist chiropody treatments

Don’t let your busy London lifestyle get in the way of keeping your feet healthy. Cities can be one of the toughest environments for our feet. Having regular appointments with a podiatrist can help keep injuries at bay and keep your feet healthy, so you’re ready to pound the pavements.

Living in a Concrete Jungle

Living in London can mean you don’t spend as much time as you’d like in a natural setting. Although there are lots of parks to enjoy, it’s likely you spend most of your time walking on concrete pavements or hard flooring within homes, shops and offices.

Constantly walking on hard surfaces can have a long-lasting effect on foot health. Hard surfaces have less shock absorption than softer surfaces like grass or carpet. This can cause your feet to ache, especially on the balls and heels as they take the brunt of the force of your footsteps. If you’re a keen runner, asphalt and concrete are rated pretty poorly when it comes to ideal surfaces to train on. But it can be hard to escape the concrete jungle.

Common foot problems linked to city living include:

  • Cracked heels – long days on our feet can result in a build-up of dry, painful skin on our heels, which are sore and difficult to remedy at home.
  • Toenail problems – thanks to our temperate climate, many of us choose to keep our feet inside shoes and socks year-round. Indeed if you work in a corporate setting, you may not have any other choice. Sweaty, cramped feet can be prone to ingrown toenails and fungal nail infections.
  • Injury and sprains – ever tripped on an uneven paving slab or awkwardly slipped down a step or pavement edge? Lower limb sprains, twists and breaks are common and can need ongoing treatment and support from a podiatrist to safely get you back on your feet.
  • Metatarsalgia – pain in the ball of your feet is common when you’re standing or walking on hard surfaces for long periods, especially if exercising or wearing high heeled shoes regularly.

How Can a Podiatrist Help?

A recent survey by the College of Podiatry revealed that 60% of Brits struggle with foot pain, but less than 40% of people know who to turn to with their foot health issues.

Regular appointments with a podiatrist are a great idea. Feet By Pody now has five clinics across London, including our new Holborn clinic, so it’s even easier to attend a clinic near to your home or workplace.

Our new Holborn clinic offers general chiropody treatments, alongside specialist treatments such as verrucae removal, toenail surgery, diabetic foot assessments, fungal nail infections, and biomechanical analysis.

From making sure that your feet look great when sandal season comes around, to dealing with foot issues such as plantar fasciitis or cracked heels, and analysing your gait and prescribing custom orthotics, Feet By Pody in Holborn will help keep your feet in great condition.
